Pom Klementieff is a Canadian-born French actress. Her roles include the French-language films The Easy Way, Delicacy, Sleepless Night, Porn in the Hood, and series Pigalle, la nuit; and then, moving into English-language productions, the films Oldboy (2013), Newness, Ingrid Goes West, the Guardians of the Galaxy/Marvel franchise, and Thunder Force, and the shows Black Mirror and Westworld.
Pom was born in Québec City, Québec, Canada. Her father, Alexis Klementieff, worked as a consul for the French Government at the time, and was of Russian and French descent. Her mother, Yu Ri Park, is of Korean descent. During her childhood, her family also lived in Japan and the Ivory Coast, before settling in France.
The name Pom is similar in pronunciation to the Korean words for both “spring” (봄) and “tiger” (범).
Pom’s paternal grandfather was Russian painter Eugene/Evgeniy Alexeyevich Klementieff (the son of Alexey Nikolayevich Klementieff). Eugene was born in Saint Petersburg or Rybinsk, Russia.
